Why it's not a good idea to post your script here

I forgot to add this about theft of scripts and ideas.

I think this board has a broad user base. It ranges from the very beginner to the intermediate film maker, to the semi-pro. As far as script posts are concerned I believe very few intermediate to semi-pro film makers are going to post there script, at that point you are a little more experienced at film making and script writing that you will not seek that kind of help here. But for the beginner who is writing and making their first couple of short films, this board is an invaluable source for scrip writing. Besides few to none of the first time film makers strike gold with there first five minute feature, you make those for the learning experience, not fame and fortune. I feel that every artist, musician, and filmmaker finds there stride in there own way and there is a decisive moment when you realize “This has potential” and you become a little more guarded with your ideas.

Erm... OK. You've given me an idea. Why don't I just go down to the post office and send myself 10 unsealed envelopes via recorded delivery. Now all I have to do it wait a year or two for the next few "big movies" to come out. Download the screenplays of the net, print them off and put them in my signed and dated unsealed envelopes. Seal then and call a laywer...

Because according to you I now have "legal strength" to say Spielberg and M. Night Shamylan have stolen my script ideas.

This time next year I'll be a millionair...

OK. 2 more things.

"1.They have to be sealed"

WRONG.

"2. they weigh them.. if there is nothing in there then it would show up that there was nothing in there when sent to yourself."

And erm... WRONG.

They may be weighed but it is not marked on the recorded delivery in ANY way. It just effects what you pay at the desk.
